Revelation 22:12
Revelation 22:1212“Behold, I am coming soon, and My reward is with Me, to give to each one according to what he has done.
JWs generally recognise that "I am coming quickly" in refers to Jesus. However, they attempt to separate this speaker from the one who claims the Alpha and Omega title in the very next verse, arguing that different speakers alternate throughout the chapter. The Watchtower teaches that the Alpha and Omega is always the Father, so they must insert a speaker change between verse 12 and verse 13 despite no textual indicator of such a shift.
The Protestant reading identifies Jesus as the speaker of — "I am coming quickly, and my reward is with me." This is confirmed by , where the same phrase "I am coming quickly" is explicitly attributed to Jesus: "Come, Lord Jesus." Even the Watchtower's own Revelation — Its Grand Climax at Hand! acknowledges that "the glorified Christ Jesus stresses the suddenness of his coming" and cites , 12, and 20 together. Since the speaker in verse 12 is Jesus, and verse 13 continues without any speaker change, Jesus is the one claiming to be "the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End." This chain of identification is central to the Alpha and Omega argument for Christ's deity.
