JW Usage

JWs accept that Jesus was raised and seated at God's right hand but date his enthronement as King of God's Kingdom to 1914 — not to the ascension. is read as describing a preliminary glorification; the full exercise of kingly authority began only when the "Gentile times" ended in 1914 based on the Watchtower's Daniel 4 calculation.

Protestant Usage

Peter at Pentecost declares that God raised Jesus "to sit on his throne" () and that "God has made him both Lord and Christ" (v. 36). The aorist tense indicates a completed action — Jesus has already been enthroned. This is one of four NT declarations that stack together to establish Christ's present reign: (already on David's throne), (already seated far above all rule and authority), (all authority in heaven and on earth already given), and (he must reign until all enemies are subdued). If Jesus already has all authority, is already far above all rule, is already on David's throne, and must reign until completion — what exactly is left for the Watchtower's 1914 kingdom to accomplish?
