# Revelation 22:7

## Text (Berean Standard Bible)

> “Behold, I am coming soon. Blessed is the one who keeps the words of prophecy in this book.”

## NWT Wording of the Key Phrase

- NWT (2013 revision): "Look! I am coming quickly. Happy is anyone observing the words of the prophecy of this scroll."

## JW Usage

Watchtower commentary takes "I am coming quickly" in Revelation 22:7 as a continuation of the chain set up by 22:1 — the speaker is taken to alternate between the Father, the Lamb, and the angel mediator. The "I am coming quickly" speaker is identified in some Watchtower readings as Christ; in others as the angelic messenger speaking in his name.

## Protestant Usage

Revelation 22:20 settles the speaker: "The one who bears witness of these things says, 'Yes, I am coming quickly.' Amen. Come, Lord Jesus." The speaker is Jesus. And the same "I am coming quickly" formula appears in 22:7, 22:12, and 22:20. Pair this with 22:13: the speaker who claims to be "Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the beginning and the end" is the same one who self-identifies in 22:16 as "I, Jesus." So Jesus, in the same chapter, claims the Jehovah-title from 1:8 (Alpha and Omega), the Jehovah-title from Isaiah 44:6 (First and Last), and personal ownership of the angel God sent in 22:6 (compare "I sent my angel" in 22:16). The chapter is a sustained Christological declaration.
