Revelation 20:11
Revelation 20:1111Then I saw a great white throne and the One seated on it. Earth and heaven fled from His presence, and no place was found for them.
Watchtower commentary takes as describing the final judgment after the millennium. The Great White Throne is Jehovah's seat of universal judgment, and "the earth and the heaven fled away" is read as the dissolution of the present world system in preparation for the new earth. The judgment scene applies to the resurrected dead and the survivors of Armageddon.
The Great White Throne judgment is real. Reformed readings see this as the universal final judgment of all humanity at the end of history — every person who has ever lived stands before this throne. The phrase "no place was found for them" signals not annihilation of the cosmos but its eschatological transformation (compare 21:1, "the new heaven and the new earth"). The verse sets up the contrast between the books of deeds (which condemn) and the Lamb's book of life (which saves) in v12-15. Salvation is by the Lamb's book; condemnation is by the deeds book; both books are present at the same judgment.
