Revelation 19:11
Revelation 19:1111Then I saw heaven standing open, and there before me was a white horse. And its rider is called Faithful and True. With righteousness He judges and wages war.
Watchtower commentary identifies the rider on the white horse as Christ at his second coming, executing Jehovah's judgment on the wicked at Armageddon. The "Faithful and True" name and the war "in righteousness" are taken as descriptions of Jesus's role as Jehovah's appointed warrior-king. The scene inaugurates the destruction of all who are not in right relationship with Jehovah's earthly organisation.
The rider is Christ — that is common ground. The contested question is whom the war is against. The Watchtower's Reasoning From the Scriptures expands the destroyed at Armageddon to "all who are not Jehovah's Witnesses, without hope of a resurrection" — a doctrine that entails the destruction of more than 99% of currently-living humans. But the text names the destroyed: v19-21 specifies "the wild beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to wage the war against the one seated on the horse." Specific apocalyptic categories — satanic power structures actively arrayed against Christ — not "everyone who did not join Jehovah's organisation." sits alongside this scene: Jehovah "does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance." The text and the Watchtower doctrine cannot both be the natural reading.
