JW Usage

JWs acknowledge that describes "the temple of God in heaven." However, they maintain that the "great crowd" of serves before God's throne in an earthly courtyard, not in the heavenly temple itself. The naos (inner sanctuary) of 11:19 is recognised as heavenly, but the same word in 7:15 is reinterpreted to accommodate the two-class doctrine.

Protestant Usage

The Greek word naos (inner sanctuary) in Revelation always refers to the heavenly temple. Every occurrence — 11:19, 14:15, 14:17, 15:5-8, 16:1, 16:17 — denotes the heavenly sanctuary without exception. says the great crowd "are rendering [God] sacred service in his temple [naos]." If naos means "heavenly sanctuary" in every other occurrence in Revelation, it means the same in 7:15 — placing the great crowd in heaven. The Watchtower must explain why naos means "heaven" everywhere except the one passage that would undermine the two-class system. anchors the heavenly-temple setting for the entire book's vision sequences. The "heard/saw" literary pattern (: John hears "Lion," sees "Lamb" — same person) applied to 7:4-9 (hears "144,000," sees "great multitude") suggests both descriptions refer to the same group, not two separate classes.
