# Psalms 86:10

## Text (Berean Standard Bible)

> For You are great and perform wonders; You alone are God.

## NWT Wording of the Key Phrase

- NWT (2013 revision): "you are great and do wondrous things; You are God, you alone"

## JW Usage

JWs read Psalm 86:10 as one of the strongest affirmations of strict unitarian monotheism. "You alone are God" is taken to settle the question: the Father alone is God, and Jesus must therefore be a separate, subordinate being. The verse is frequently cited at the doorstep against any Trinitarian reading.

## Protestant Usage

"You alone are God" is exactly right — the question is who counts as the "you." Hebrews 1:3 says Jesus is "the exact representation of [God's] very being" (NWT). If Jesus exactly represents the being of the one who alone is God, then either Jesus shares that one being, or Psalm 86:10 contradicts Hebrews 1:3. The Trinitarian reading holds both: there is one divine being, and that one being subsists in three persons — Father, Son, Spirit — who share the singular nature. The unity of God is not threatened by Trinitarian theology; it is preserved by it.
