Psalms 45:7
Psalms 45:77You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you above your companions with the oil of joy.
is acknowledged in JW publications as a Messianic passage — the king is anointed by "God, your God." The Watchtower reads "God, your God" as evidence that the Messianic king is subordinate to a higher God; the king has a God above him, therefore the king is not God. The verse is also used to support the JW reading of (which quotes ) where the NWT renders "God is your throne" rather than "your throne, O God" — keeping Jesus subordinate.
is a single Messianic unit. Verse 6 addresses the king as "God" ("your throne, O God, is forever and ever") and verse 7 names the king's relationship to "God, your God." The two verses are not contradictory — they are the Trinitarian pattern: the Son is addressed as God (v. 6) AND has God as his Father (v. 7). Pair with (which quotes both verses and applies them to Christ — the Father directly addresses the Son as "God" in v. 8, and v. 9 describes the same Son anointed by "God, your God"). The NWT's "God is your throne" rendering at is the load-bearing translation choice that preserves the Arian reading; standard English translations preserve "your throne, O God." Read in the Father-Son framework establishes: the Son was in the form of God, emptied himself, and was exalted by God his Father — same person, two relationships, no contradiction.
