Numbers 6:25
Numbers 6:2525may the LORD cause His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
JWs read the face-shining promise as Jehovah's favour expressed toward his people but restrict its full meaning — direct beholding of God — to the 144,000 anointed who go to heaven. The great crowd receives Jehovah's blessings on a paradise earth without the face- to-face vision.
"May Jehovah make his face shine upon you" is the load-bearing promise the JW two-class system cannot survive. Faces shine in personal presence — never at remote distance. And the singular "you" addresses every Israelite, not a priestly class. Pair with — "we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same image" — and the trajectory is clear: the Aaronic face-shine foreshadows the new covenant beatific vision promised to every believer in Christ. If even the OT covenant shone Jehovah's face on every Israelite, the new covenant cannot offer LESS to the great crowd than the old offered to the unredeemed congregation.
