JW Usage

JWs accept as Jehovah's covenant blessing on Israel and often quote it in convention talks and family worship. They affirm Jehovah blesses and safeguards his people — but they restrict the full intimacy of that blessing to the anointed class, with the great crowd receiving its earthly shadow.

Protestant Usage

"May Jehovah bless you and safeguard you" is the first line of the benediction Aaron pronounced over EVERY Israelite — singular pronoun, addressed to each covenant member. The grammar admits no two-tier reading. The blessing extends in to "we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord", and in to every believer who "will see him as he is". The Aaronic blessing is not a class privilege; it is the standing posture of God toward every member of his covenant people, then and now.
