Nehemiah 9:6

OT History
Nehemiah 9:6
6You alone are the LORD. You created the heavens, the highest heavens with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to all things, and the host of heaven worships You.

JW Usage

The Watchtower reads as a confession of Jehovah's unique creatorship — Jehovah alone made the heavens and the earth, and the angels worship him. The verse functions in JW publications as a reaffirmation of strict monotheism: Jehovah is the only God, and any other being credited with creation must therefore be his agent or instrument, not God himself. The verse is invoked alongside ("by myself") to insist that the Son's role in creation must be subordinate.

Protestant Usage

Pair with (Jehovah created "alone, by myself") and then with (the Father addresses the Son: "you laid the foundations of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the works of your hands"). If Jehovah created alone, and attributes the creation of the heavens to the Son in language originally addressed to Jehovah, then the Son is included in who Jehovah is. Pair also with ("all things have been created through him and for him") and ("one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are"). Three texts attribute creation to the Son in language reserved for Jehovah — the same Jehovah says created "alone." The two-tier "Jehovah created through Michael" reading collapses against this set of texts.
