# Nehemiah 9:27

## Text (Berean Standard Bible)

> So You delivered them into the hands of enemies who oppressed them, and in their time of distress they cried out to You. From heaven You heard them, and in Your great compassion You gave them deliverers who saved them from the hands of their enemies.

## Protestant Usage

Nehemiah 9:27 — "you gave them saviours who saved them out of the hand of their adversaries" — is Pollock's parallel for the temporal-deliverer reading of "saviour" (mōshia) in Hebrew Scripture. The Levites' confession in Nehemiah 9 lists the judges ("saviours" plural) who delivered Israel in the period of the Judges; the term applies to created human agents whose function is preservation, not to the unique divine Saviour. Provides the same Pollock-style support for 1 Timothy 4:10 as 2 Kings 13:5, used in Watchtower determinism (262) as a cross-reference for the saviour-temporal-use semantic.
