Job 33:4
Job 33:44The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.
Read as a poetic ascription of human creation to Jehovah's spirit, understood as Jehovah's active force rather than a person. The verse is comfortable for the JW reading because the spirit and the breath both remain extensions of the one Person of Jehovah, not a distinct person who creates.
is one of the linchpins of the Genesis 1 / trap. has God saying "let us make man in our image," and has Jehovah saying he created "alone" and "by myself." If Jesus is a separate created being who helped, the two verses contradict. closes the loop by attributing creation specifically to "God's own spirit" and "the Almighty's own breath." Pair with (the Spirit hovering over the waters) and (all things made through the Word) — three persons, all credited with creation, yet God says he created alone. That is Trinitarian monotheism: not three gods, but one God who is internally plural.
The NWT lowercases "spirit" — consistent with its policy throughout — and the choice is doctrinally weighted even though several mainstream translations also lowercase here. The concern is not the casing at this verse alone but the cumulative effect across the canon: the NWT's pneumatology depersonalises the Spirit by lowercasing every occurrence and using "it/that one" pronouns where Greek and English tradition use "he." A reader of the NWT will not encounter the Spirit as a person anywhere in the text, and is part of that cumulative pattern.
