# Isaiah 6:8

## Text (Berean Standard Bible)

> Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying: “Whom shall I send? Who will go for Us?” And I said: “Here am I. Send me!”

## JW Usage

"Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" The "us" is read by the Watchtower as Jehovah speaking with the angelic host or with the pre-human Jesus (Michael) — a heavenly council deliberating the prophet's commission. The same external-helper reading is applied to Genesis 1:26, 3:22, and 11:7.

## Protestant Usage

The Isaiah 6:8 plural sits inside a vision where Isaiah explicitly saw Jehovah (6:1, 6:5) and where the seraphim ascribed threefold-holy directly to Jehovah (6:3). The "us" is therefore internal to the figure on the throne, not an external council surrounding him. Note the singular execution that follows — "*I* heard the voice of Jehovah saying" (8a, singular subject) bridges into the plural "who will go for *us*" (8b), then Isaiah's "Here I am! Send me" is answered by "Go and tell" (9, singular imperative). The grammatical pattern matches Genesis 1:26-27 (plural "let us make" → singular "God created") and Genesis 11:7-8 (plural "let us go down" → singular "the LORD scattered"). Pair with John 12:41: the plural-deliberating Jehovah of Isaiah 6 is the one whose glory Isaiah saw, and the one John identifies as Jesus.
