# Isaiah 44:24

## Text (Berean Standard Bible)

> Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer who formed you from the womb: “I am the LORD, who has made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who by Myself spread out the earth,

## JW Usage

JWs accept Isaiah 44:24 as a clean monotheism text affirming Jehovah as sole creator and use it inside their Watchtower-versus-Christendom framing to argue for strict numerical monotheism against the Trinity. When the text's "alone" and "by myself" clauses are pressed against the Watchtower's "master worker" doctrine (Jesus as the first created spirit through whom Jehovah then made everything else), JWs rely on the rendering of Colossians 1:16 in the NWT — which inserts "other" four times ("by means of him all [other] things were created in the heavens and on the earth") — to keep Jesus a creature alongside the rest of creation. The verse is treated as supporting a "Jehovah alone, plus one helper" picture rather than as a problem for it.

## Protestant Usage

Isaiah 44:24 is one of the cleanest deity arguments because the NWT itself does not blur the verse: Jehovah declares "I am Jehovah, who made everything. I stretched out the heavens by myself, and I spread out the earth. Who was with me?" The exclusivity is total — "alone," "by myself," "who was with me?" — three clauses in one sentence. Now pair it with John 1:3 ("All things came into existence through him, and apart from him not even one thing came into existence") and Colossians 1:16 ("by means of him all things were created in the heavens and on the earth"). The Watchtower's escape route is to insert "[other]" four times into Col 1:16-17 — but the bracketed word does not exist in any Greek manuscript and even the Watchtower's own Kingdom Interlinear shows no Greek behind it. Strip the insertion and the syllogism is unanswerable: Jehovah was alone when he created; Jesus created all things; therefore Jesus is included in who Jehovah is. The "master worker" / instrument reply collapses on the same word: an instrument is a helper, and Jehovah said no helper was present. Reinforce with Isaiah 44:6 ("I am the first and I am the last; there is no God but me"), Isaiah 44:8 ("Is there any God but me? There is no other Rock; I know of none"), and Isaiah 43:10 ("Before me no God was formed, and after me there has been none"). The Watchtower must either let the syllogism stand or accuse Isaiah of having forgotten Jesus existed.
