Hebrews 7:27
Hebrews 7:2727Unlike the other high priests, He does not need to offer daily sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people; He sacrificed for sin once for all when He offered up Himself.
— "he did this once for all time when he offered himself up" — is affirmed by the Watchtower in its general contour. Jesus's sacrifice was unique and unrepeatable. But the JW soteriology then layers ongoing organisational obedience over the once-for-all sacrifice as a continuing condition for benefiting from it: meeting attendance, field service, loyalty to the Faithful and Discreet Slave. The verse is preserved verbally; its sufficiency is qualified in practice.
names the structural problem in any "completed sacrifice plus ongoing requirements" framework. If Christ's offering is "once for all time" (ephapax), then the work of taking sins away is finished. confirms it: "by one sacrificial offering he has made those who are being sanctified perfect for all time." closes off any supplementary contribution: "where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer an offering for sin." The Watchtower's ongoing-compliance overlay treats the believer's continuing service as a kind of supplementary offering — exactly what says cannot exist after Christ's once-for-all offering. Pair with ("it has been accomplished" — tetelestai) and ("if righteousness is through law, Christ actually died for nothing").
