The Watchtower reads this Psalm 8 quotation primarily as commentary on humanity — Jehovah's purpose for mankind on a paradise earth. The verse is treated as anchoring the human-vocation reading of Psalm 8 and supporting the earthly-hope soteriology.

The flow of 2:6-9 is: Psalm 8's "son of man" expectation has not been fulfilled in fallen Adam (verse 8b: "we do not yet see all things subjected to him"); but it has been fulfilled in Jesus (verse 9: "we see Jesus, made a little lower than the angels... crowned with glory and honour"). The author appropriates Psalm 8 christologically: Jesus is the true Adam who finally enters into the dominion creation always intended for humanity.
