Hebrews 10:22
Hebrews 10:2222let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
The Watchtower typically reads 's "let us approach with a true heart in full assurance of faith" as counsel addressed to the 144,000 anointed who are parties to the new covenant. The great crowd is said to have a different kind of standing — beneficiaries of Christ's ransom, but without the direct priestly access the verse describes.
The "us" of cannot be split into covenant parties and covenant beneficiaries without violence to the text. Verses 19-22 form one sentence: "having boldness for the entrance into the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus... let us approach with a true heart in full assurance of faith." The Old Testament separation between priests and laypeople is explicitly dismantled — every reader can enter the Most Holy Place because of the torn curtain (). And the mode of approach is "full assurance of faith," not "full accumulation of compliance." Pair with (royal priesthood of every believer) and the doorstep form: "Your own NWT says 'let us approach with a true heart in full assurance of faith.' Full assurance — is that what you have, or is your standing conditional?"
