Hebrews 10:18
Hebrews 10:1818And where these have been forgiven, an offering for sin is no longer needed.
"Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer an offering for sin." JWs affirm the statement in its Old Testament context — the animal sacrifices have ceased — but do not draw from it the consequence that all post-conversion sin is already covered without further conditions. The Watchtower's ongoing-compliance framework requires that some continuing offering be made: time, service, obedience, loyalty.
is the capstone of the finished-work argument. Forgiveness has happened; therefore no more offering is needed. The negative inference is devastating to any system that asks for supplementary contribution: "If you are adding anything — hours, meetings, service, organisational loyalty — as the means of being forgiven or staying forgiven, you are making another offering." The verse rules that out by definition. Pair with (God "kindly forgave us all our trespasses" by erasing the handwritten debt and nailing it to the cross), ("if righteousness is through law, Christ actually died for nothing"), and ("those in union with Christ Jesus have no condemnation"). The organisation asks you to keep offering; says there is nothing left to offer.
