# Hebrews 10:18

## Text (Berean Standard Bible)

> And where these have been forgiven, an offering for sin is no longer needed.

## JW Usage

"Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer an offering for sin." JWs affirm the statement in its Old Testament context — the animal sacrifices have ceased — but do not draw from it the consequence that all post-conversion sin is already covered without further conditions. The Watchtower's ongoing-compliance framework requires that some continuing offering be made: time, service, obedience, loyalty.

## Protestant Usage

Hebrews 10:18 is the capstone of the finished-work argument. Forgiveness has happened; therefore no more offering is needed. The negative inference is devastating to any system that asks for supplementary contribution: "If you are adding anything — hours, meetings, service, organisational loyalty — as the means of being forgiven or staying forgiven, you are making another offering." The verse rules that out by definition. Pair with Colossians 2:13-14 (God "kindly forgave us all our trespasses" by erasing the handwritten debt and nailing it to the cross), Galatians 2:21 ("if righteousness is through law, Christ actually died for nothing"), and Romans 8:1 ("those in union with Christ Jesus have no condemnation"). The organisation asks you to keep offering; Hebrews 10:18 says there is nothing left to offer.
