# Hebrews 10:12

## Text (Berean Standard Bible)

> But when this Priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, He sat down at the right hand of God.

## JW Usage

JWs acknowledge that Jesus offered "one sacrifice for sins" but treat this as the basis for a new system of requirements rather than a completed transaction. The sacrifice opens the way; the believer must still perform the works that make the ransom applicable to them personally.

## Protestant Usage

The writer draws a devastating contrast: "every priest stands day after day… offering sacrifices that can never take sins away. But this priest offered one sacrifice for sins for all time and sat down at the right hand of God" (Hebrews 10:11–12). The posture tells the story — standing means unfinished business; sitting means the work is done. Jesus sat down because nothing remains to be added. The "one sacrifice" (mian… thysian) is singular and unrepeatable. Combined with John 19:30 ("It has been accomplished") and Colossians 2:14 (the debt certificate nailed to the cross), the NT presents salvation as a finished work received by faith, not an ongoing project supplemented by human effort.
