Genesis 5:2
Genesis 5:22Male and female He created them, and He blessed them. And in the day they were created, He called them “man.”
is rarely discussed in Watchtower teaching. When it is cited, the reading is anthropological — God named the male-female pair as a category ("Man" / "Mankind") for covenant-historical purposes. The theological use of the verse as a Trinity illustration is a Protestant move the Watchtower does not typically engage.
supplies a creational pattern that dismantles the most common JW objection to the Trinity. "Male and female he created them...he named them Man." Two distinct persons bearing one name — the man Adam and the woman Eve, both called "Adam" (the Hebrew uses the same word). Eve was not the man Adam; she was a different person. Yet God gave them both the same name because they shared the same nature. The Trinitarian claim is structurally parallel: the Father, Son, and Spirit share the name "Jehovah" ( for the Father; for the Messiah; for the Spirit) without being the same person. Sharing a name means sharing a nature, not being identical. The Jehovah/Adam name analogy is not the Trinity in full; it is the pattern from day six of creation that Trinitarian doctrine presupposes: multiple persons, one name, one shared nature.
