Genesis 3:22

JW Usage

"The man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil" — JWs typically read "us" as Jehovah plus Jesus (pre-human master worker), sometimes extended to include angels. The Watchtower treats the plural as a real multi-party divine conversation involving at least one other person distinct from Jehovah.

Protestant Usage

sharpens the "let us" problem because whatever the "us" is, the "us" now knows good and evil — experientially or morally. Angels do not sit comfortably in that role: they are not the benchmark of moral knowledge, and treating them as the "us" makes humanity's fall into an approximation of angelic moral life, which the rest of Scripture does not support. The consistent solution is the internal plurality of the one God, who speaks deliberatively ("us") and acts singularly (the driving out of Eden is Jehovah's single act, 3:23-24). Compare the pattern at , , and — every plural deliberation resolves into singular divine action.
