Genesis 1:27
Genesis 1:2727So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
JWs treat 1:27 as the "singular collapse" that resolves the plural of 1:26: Jehovah deliberated with Jesus (and possibly angels) in verse 26, but in verse 27 Jehovah alone executes the creation — hence the singular verb "God created" and the singular possessive "his own image." On this reading, the "us" of 1:26 was a conversation, and the act was Jehovah's solitary work through his master worker.
The singular/plural rhythm between 1:26 and 1:27 is exactly what the Trinitarian reading predicts. The deliberation is plural ("let us make"), the executed act is singular ("God created"), and the image the man bears is "the image of God" — never "the image of God and angels," never "the image of God and Jesus his first creation." If the "us" were an external helper, the image should reflect that helper. It does not. The plural is internal to God; the act belongs to the one God who is internally plural. Pair with — Jehovah says he "stretched out the heavens alone" and "spread out the earth by myself." Any attempt to put a second created being inside the "us" of 1:26 requires denying the "alone" of .
