NT Letters
Ephesians 2:14
14For He Himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has torn down the dividing wall of hostility

JW Usage

JWs acknowledge that Christ broke down the barrier between Jew and Gentile but do not apply this to their own two-class theology. The Watchtower teaches that while ethnic divisions are dissolved, a different distinction — between the 144,000 anointed and the great crowd — is divinely instituted. The verse is not prominently featured in Watchtower literature on the anointed/other sheep distinction, as its implications cut against the two-class system.

Protestant Usage

Paul declares that Christ "has made both groups one and has destroyed the dividing wall" — the barrier between Jew and Gentile. The purpose was to "create in himself one new man out of the two" (), producing unity, not a new division. If God destroyed the most fundamental religious partition in human history — the one he himself had instituted between Israel and the nations — it is inconsistent to claim he then erected a new partition between anointed and non-anointed believers. The "one body" of connects directly to the "one hope" of , reinforcing that all believers share a single calling. confirms the same: "one flock, one shepherd" — not two flocks with different destinies. The Watchtower's two-class system rebuilds the very wall Christ died to demolish.
