JWs do not typically lean on this verse in standard arguments. When it is cited, the focus is on Moses' uniqueness as a prophetic standard, which fits naturally with the Watchtower's broader concern about identifying genuine prophetic voices.

Protestant Usage

This closing verse of Deuteronomy is the inspired narrator's claim that no prophet like Moses has arisen in Israel — "whom Jehovah knew face-to-face". The verse reads forward, not backward: it leaves a gap. Moses predicted a prophet "like me" in ; confirms that no Old Testament prophet filled the prediction. The slot remained open until Christ — Peter (), Stephen () and Jesus himself () close it in him. The doorstep insight is structural: Deuteronomy itself testifies that the Mosaic prediction was not exhausted in the prophetic record up to Malachi; it was waiting for the eschatological prophet who finally appears in the Son.
