Daniel 7:14
Daniel 7:1414And He was given dominion, glory, and kingship, that the people of every nation and language should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and His kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.
The Watchtower acknowledges that depicts "one like a son of man" approaching the Ancient of Days and receiving universal dominion — and reads this as Christ being entrusted with delegated authority by Jehovah after his exaltation. The "service" in verse 14 is rendered in the NWT as "should all serve him" rather than "should worship him." JW theology treats this as administrative loyalty to the King Jehovah appointed, not as worship in the sense reserved for Jehovah alone. is compatible, on this reading, with Jesus being the highest creature who receives service from all nations without being God.
Two cords to pull at the door. First, the worship question: the Aramaic verb in is pelach, used elsewhere in Daniel for service rendered to Jehovah himself (Dan 3:12, 3:17, 3:18, 6:16, 7:27). It is the same cultic service word. Universal, everlasting service by every people, nation, and language group, with rulership that "will not pass away" — that is worship vocabulary, even if "service" is the English chosen. Second, the Mark 14 move: Jesus combined with under oath at his trial, and the high priest tore his robes in a formal blasphemy response. The hostile witnesses understood Jesus to be claiming divine prerogatives — sitting on God's throne and receiving God's authority. If were about delegated creaturely office, the Sanhedrin had no legal basis for the blasphemy verdict. They had one, and they executed him for it. That is the best external commentary on what actually says about the Son of Man's identity.
