# Daniel 3:28

## Text (Berean Standard Bible)

> Nebuchadnezzar declared, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent His angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him. They violated the king’s command and risked their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.

## NWT Wording of the Key Phrase

- NWT (2013 revision): "Nebuchadnezzar then declared: "Praised be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who sent his angel and rescued his servants. They trusted in him and went against the command of the king and were willing to die rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.""

## JW Usage

Read as vindication — a pagan king forced to acknowledge Jehovah after seeing the deliverance. The Watchtower uses it for the theme of God's name being vindicated before the nations, and for the assurance that faithfulness under trial is noticed and rewarded.

## Protestant Usage

Nebuchadnezzar's summary is the useful part, because a hostile outsider states the principle plainly: they were willing to die rather than serve or worship any god except their own God. That is the rule Daniel has established, in the mouth of the man who tried to break it. Service and worship of the pelach kind belong to one recipient and no other, and the men in the furnace proved it with their lives. Hold that against Daniel 7:14. The one like a son of man comes with the clouds of heaven, approaches the Ancient of Days, and is given rulership and a kingdom so that all peoples, nations and language groups serve him — the same verb, now universal and everlasting. Either Daniel has contradicted his own book, or the figure receiving that service belongs on the divine side of the line the three Hebrews died to defend. Compare Daniel 3:18, Daniel 7:9, Daniel 7:27.
