Colossians 4:15

NT Letters
Colossians 4:15
15Greet the brothers in Laodicea, as well as Nympha and the church that meets at her house.

JW Usage

JWs read "the congregation that is in her house" through the lens of their own congregation model — an organised body connected to a central headquarters, meeting in a designated building under Governing Body direction. Nympha's house is treated as incidental rather than structurally revealing.

Protestant Usage

"Give my greetings to the brothers at Laodicea and to Nympha and to the congregation that is in her house." Paul's casual aside describes the first-century norm: congregations (ἐκκλησίαι) meeting in private homes hosted by individual believers. Nympha's gathering is one of several the New Testament names — Aquila and Priscilla's (; ), Philemon's (Philemon 2), and others. No Kingdom Halls, no centralised programme, no Governing Body content schedule. Small, local, domestic, and led by ordinary believers whose homes were opened for the purpose. When pairing this with at the door, the structural claim is simple: the New Testament picture of "not forsaking our meeting together" is home-based fellowship for mutual encouragement — not mandatory building attendance under an institutional authority.
