# Acts 2:30

## Text (Berean Standard Bible)

> But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that He would place one of his descendants on his throne.

## JW Usage

JWs accept that Jesus was raised and seated at God's right hand but date his enthronement as King of God's Kingdom to 1914 — not to the ascension. Acts 2:30-36 is read as describing a preliminary glorification; the full exercise of kingly authority began only when the "Gentile times" ended in 1914 based on the Watchtower's Daniel 4 calculation.

## Protestant Usage

Peter at Pentecost declares that God raised Jesus "to sit on his throne" (Acts 2:30) and that "God has made him both Lord and Christ" (v. 36). The aorist tense indicates a completed action — Jesus has already been enthroned. This is one of four NT declarations that stack together to establish Christ's present reign: Acts 2:30 (already on David's throne), Ephesians 1:20-22 (already seated far above all rule and authority), Matthew 28:18 (all authority in heaven and on earth already given), and 1 Corinthians 15:25 (he must reign until all enemies are subdued). If Jesus already has all authority, is already far above all rule, is already on David's throne, and must reign until completion — what exactly is left for the Watchtower's 1914 kingdom to accomplish?
