is another Pauline venue text the Watchtower passes over when arguing for door-to-door ministry. When opposition in the synagogue became hardened, Paul did not start knocking on Ephesian doors. He rented a lecture hall and continued public teaching.

"He withdrew from them and separated the disciples from them, daily giving talks in the lecture hall of Tyrannus" (NWT). Paul's response to synagogue opposition is not a shift to residential canvassing. It is a shift from one public venue to another — a rented hall, daily teaching, still destinational. Bible commentators note that Codex Bezae adds the detail that Paul taught there "from the fifth hour to the tenth" (roughly 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the hot middle of the working day when the hall was otherwise idle). Paul books the unused hours, gathers interested hearers, and teaches for two full years (v.10). Again — public, destinational, sustained. Pair with , 18:4, and 19:8 at the door: four verses, four cities, one method. Public teaching in public venues where interested hearers came to him.
