# Acts 19:8

## Text (Berean Standard Bible)

> Then Paul went into the synagogue and spoke boldly there for three months, arguing persuasively about the kingdom of God.

## JW Usage

Acts 19:8 is not a verse the Watchtower quotes to defend door-to-door evangelism, because it describes something quite different — Paul speaking publicly for three months inside the Ephesian synagogue. Luke's portrait of the actual apostolic method does not match the modern canvassing model.

## Protestant Usage

Read it: "Entering the synagogue, he spoke with boldness for three months, giving talks and using persuasion concerning the kingdom of God" (NWT). Three months of sustained public teaching in one venue, to an audience that chose to be there. This is not brief, unannounced visits to private homes in a residential neighbourhood. It is thick, patient, argued-through ministry in a destinational space. The contrast is important: Paul trusts a single venue and three months of reasoning to plant a church. The JW canvassing model prioritises volume and footprint over depth of engagement. Those are not the same ministry shape.
