Acts 1:6
Acts 1:66So when they came together, they asked Him, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?”
plays a small role in JW publications around predicted-date defences. When critics raise the failed predictions of 1914, 1925, and 1975, the Watchtower sometimes appeals to v.7 — Jesus' refusal to give the apostles a timetable — to argue that uncertainty about timing is expected and that JW chronological revisions fit the apostolic pattern of imperfect understanding.
The verse actually argues against the Watchtower's defensive use of it. The apostles ask about timing; Jesus refuses to give a date. They do not then publish a calculation, promote it for years, and instruct followers to act on it. Compare that posture with "trustworthy Bible chronology" landing on 1975, or "the stamp of his seal" landing on 1914 and 1918. The apostles modelled humility about timing precisely by refusing to set a date. is the right pattern; the three-failed-dates record across 1914, 1925, and 1975 is the opposite of it. The contrast actually deepens the problem rather than resolving it.
