Pollock (Millennial Dawnism Briefly Tested by Scripture, 1912) cited as the apostolic answer to Russell's annihilationist reading of the "second death." Paul's phrase 'everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord' (apo prosōpou tou Kyriou) describes ongoing exclusion in conscious awareness, not cessation of being — the destruction is "from" the Lord's face, presupposing a destroyed person who experiences the separation. Watchtower theology reads 2 Thess 1:9 as eternal annihilation, but the construction parallels 's "hide from the dread presence of Jehovah and from the splendour of his majesty" — exclusionary not extinctional. Used cross-domain in arguments on intermediate state (058), eternal conscious torment via rich-man-lazarus, and Watchtower determinism (262) on Armageddon destruction.
