Pollock cited as the Old Testament example of "saviour" used temporally — Jehovah "gave Israel a saviour" (a human deliverer in the Aramean conflicts under Jehoahaz) without that saviour being divine. The verse provides contextual support for reading 's "Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe" (KJV) as covering temporal preservation rather than universal eternal salvation — the same lexical pattern as the Hebrew Bible's "mōshia" used for non-divine deliverers. Used in Watchtower determinism (262) as a cross-reference for 1 Tim 4:10.
