# 2 Kings 13:5

## Text (Berean Standard Bible)

> So the LORD gave Israel a deliverer, and they escaped the power of the Arameans. Then the people of Israel lived in their own homes as they had before.

## Protestant Usage

Pollock cited 2 Kings 13:5 as the Old Testament example of "saviour" used temporally — Jehovah "gave Israel a saviour" (a human deliverer in the Aramean conflicts under Jehoahaz) without that saviour being divine. The verse provides contextual support for reading 1 Timothy 4:10's "Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe" (KJV) as covering temporal preservation rather than universal eternal salvation — the same lexical pattern as the Hebrew Bible's "mōshia" used for non-divine deliverers. Used in Watchtower determinism (262) as a cross-reference for 1 Tim 4:10.
