# 2 Corinthians 6:2

## Text (Berean Standard Bible)

> For He says: “In the time of favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” Behold, now is the time of favor; now is the day of salvation!

## NWT Wording of the Key Phrase

- NWT (2013 revision): "For he says: "In an acceptable time I heard you, and in a day of salvation I helped you." Look! Now is the especially acceptable time. Look! Now is the day of salvation."

## JW Usage

Read as urgency about the present opportunity before Armageddon — now is the time to learn about Jehovah, dedicate, and get baptised. The Watchtower holds this alongside its teaching that many who die untaught will still be raised and instructed during the thousand years, so the urgency is real but not absolute.

## Protestant Usage

Paul repeats himself for emphasis: look, now is the especially acceptable time; look, now is the day of salvation. He is staking his ministry's urgency on a window that is open and will close. That urgency only makes sense if the window really does close. If there is a later opportunity in which the untaught are instructed and can respond, Paul's doubled "now" loses its force — the acceptable time would extend well past this life. Use it as the third leg alongside Hebrews 9:27 and Luke 16:26 rather than on its own. One death and one judgment; a fixed chasm with the living pointed back to Moses and the prophets; and now as the day of salvation. Together they locate the decision on this side of the grave. And the pastoral use is the better one. If now is the day, then the thing being offered can be received now — not after enough study, enough meetings, enough proving. That is worth saying to someone who has been taught salvation is a process they must sustain. Compare Hebrews 9:28, Luke 16:26, Luke 23:42.
