1 Peter 4:10
10As good stewards of the manifold grace of God, each of you should use whatever gift he has received to serve one another.

is treated in Watchtower literature as a general exhortation to theocratic service — the "gift" language is applied to roles within the organisation (elders, ministerial servants, pioneers, publishers) exercised under Governing Body direction. The verse is rarely pressed for its implication that gift-based stewardship is distributed across every believer rather than concentrated in a single channel.

Protestant Usage

Read 4:10 as the charter Peter actually writes: "each one," "as each one has received a gift, use it in ministering to one another." The gift is not deposited in a central office and dispensed downward; it is given to each Christian for mutual service. Pair this with ("the manifestation of the spirit is given to each one") and ("the anointing ... teaches you about all things"). The New Testament model of stewardship is distributed and mutual, not mediated through a governing council. The 2012 redefinition of the "faithful and discreet slave" () as only the Governing Body narrows this distribution even further than the older "all anointed" reading did — and does so in the teeth of Peter's "each one" language. Plant the seed: if every believer has a gift to steward directly, the organisation's claim to be the single channel through which the Master feeds his people is an addition to what Peter actually wrote.
