# Jehovah Created Alone — So Jesus Must Be Jehovah

*Isaiah 44:24*

## Doorstep Question

> "Isaiah 44:24 says Jehovah created all things "alone" and "by myself." But Colossians 1:16 and John 1:3 say all things were created through Jesus. If Jehovah was alone, where was Jesus?"

## JW Claim

Jesus is a separate being from Jehovah. Jehovah created Jesus first, then
used Jesus as a "master worker" to create everything else.

## Strategy

Read Isaiah 44:24 — Jehovah says he stretched out the heavens "alone" and spread out the earth "by myself." No helper, no assistant. Then read Colossians 1:16 — all things were created through Jesus and for Jesus. And John 1:3 — without him nothing was made that has been made. If Jehovah was truly alone when he created, and Jesus was there creating, then Jesus must be Jehovah. There is no third option: either Jesus is Jehovah, or Isaiah 44:24 is false.

## Key Insight

This is a simple logical syllogism. Jehovah says he created alone. Jesus created all things. Therefore Jesus is Jehovah. The JW cannot escape this without contradicting either Isaiah or Colossians.

## JW Responses & Counters

### Response 1

**JW says:** "Jehovah created through Jesus — Jesus was the instrument"

**Counter:** But Isaiah 44:24 says "alone" and "by myself." An instrument is still a helper. If I paint a picture with a brush, I didn't paint it alone. Jehovah says no one was with him. If Jesus is a separate created being who helped, then Jehovah's claim is false.

### Response 2

**JW says:** "Jesus was created first, then everything else through him"

**Counter:** That still contradicts "alone." And Colossians 1:16 says "all things were created" through him — not "all other things." Your NWT added the word "other" four times in Colossians 1:16-17, but it's not in any Greek manuscript.

### Response 3

**JW says:** "Jehovah didn't need help. He chose to let his firstborn Son share the work as a master worker, like a father letting his son help in the workshop. We don't need to know why he did it that way."

**Counter:** That's an honest answer, and I agree God often works through people and angels. So I won't argue only that God wouldn't need a helper, like a craftsman making a hammer out of nothing just to build everything else. The real question is what Jehovah says he did. "I am Jehovah, who made everything. I stretched out the heavens by myself" (Isaiah 44:24). "All the gods of the peoples are worthless gods, but Jehovah is the one who made the heavens" (Psalm 96:5). Hebrews 3:3-4 says Jesus has more glory than Moses, "since the one who constructs a house has more honor than the house itself," and then: "the one who constructed all things is God." Paul says all things are "from him and by him and for him" (Romans 11:36), and of the Son he says all things were created "through him and for him" (Colossians 1:16). A tool is never the purpose of the house. If all things were made for the Son, can he be one of the tools?

## What to Avoid

Don't let the conversation become about whether "through" diminishes Jesus' role. Stay focused on the word "alone" in Isaiah 44:24 — that's the leverage point. The "why would God make a hammer to make everything else?" question is weak on its own, because God often works through means; use it only as a bridge into Isaiah 44:24 and Psalm 96:5.

## Homework

Read Isaiah 44:24 with the verses around it until you can quote it from memory, especially 'alone' and 'by myself', then read Colossians 1:16–17 and John 1:1–3. Check the NWT wording of Isaiah 44:24 so your case rests on their own Bible, and notice where 'other' appears in Colossians 1:16–17. Practise the doorstep question aloud, 'If Jehovah was alone, where was Jesus?', then stop and wait. Expect 'Jesus was Jehovah's instrument'; rehearse the paintbrush illustration, that if I paint with a brush I did not paint alone, and keep bringing the conversation back to 'alone' rather than debating 'through'.
